Does New Hampshire require locksmith licensing?
According to ALOA, as of January 2025, 13 states require locksmith licensing: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Virginia. New Hampshire is not a state that requires locksmiths to be licensed so you should ask questions to avoid scammers. LockWorks is fully insured and a member of both ALOA and SAVTA.

How does a master key system work?
A master key system is designed with a tiered key distribution hierarchy. In a 3-level system, a “Grand Master Key” can open all locks, while “Master Keys” can open locks within specific buildings or departments. The most basic key, or “change key,” only opens a single lock. This system is created by adding special master pins to each pin stack inside the lock, allowing different keys to operate the same lock.
What are restricted keyways and why does my business need them?
Restricted keyways are high-security key systems that prevent unauthorized key duplication. The keys can only be ordered by the system’s registered owner directly from the manufacturer, which ensures that copies cannot be made at a local key bar. This provides a critical layer of security for your business by tightly controlling the number of keys in circulation
Do you install panic hardware for businesses?
Yes, we install a wide range of commercial door hardware, including panic devices. Panic hardware, also known as fire exit hardware, is a type of door hardware designed to allow for safe and fast exits from a commercial building in case of an emergency.
How much does it cost to hire a locksmith?
The short answer is, it depends. On the market, the business’s overhead, profit goals, etc. While there is no standard of pricing that all locksmith businesses follow, LockWorks charges a trip charge (aka service charge) for each visit to a customer’s property. This covers the cost to run the vehicle, vehicle insurance, wear & tear, fuel etc. After which the job is either priced flat rate (for simple scenarios like lock rekeys or deadbolt installations) or priced time and materials (T&M) for more complex scenarios with unknown variables (such as installation of a Ring camera system with configuration, testing, and modifications required). In either case, upon request we will always provide a quote for services ahead of time.
What is a master key system and how can it help my business?
A master key system is a hierarchical mechanical locking solution that provides controlled access to multiple doors with a single key. It enhances convenience by reducing the number of keys a person needs to carry and improves security by limiting access to specific areas, which is critical for businesses and property managers.
What is access control for a business?
Access control is an electronic system that allows a business to manage and control who can enter specific areas. This can be done using keycards, keypads, or biometric scanners. Access control systems are a powerful tool for commercial security as they allow you to easily add or revoke access for employees, minimizing the risk of a security breach.
How can I prevent unauthorized access to my commercial property?
Preventing unauthorized access is a primary security challenge for commercial properties. You can address this with a layered approach, including external surveillance, internal cameras, and professional access control systems. These measures ensure that you can monitor your property, identify threats, and manage who can enter and exit the building.
